
He is the author of the extensive work Flora Dalmatica in which he was the first to comprehensively list and describe the entire Dalmatian flora. There is no shortage of that same Dalmatian flora in the park that bears his name, skillfully blended with plants from other climates to create a harmonious botanical composition in the heart of the city.

The park was created on a site that, in the past, separated the historic core from the suburbs with high medieval walls and moats. This is why the remains of these walls are still visible in its central part today.
It has changed its name several times throughout history, but generations of Šibenik residents most often call it simply "Đardin."

At the lowest part of the park, surrounded by travertine from the Krka River, stands a monument to King Petar Krešimir IV, who watches over the Šibenik harbor from his throne.
