Jane Schoenbrun's dark horror-comedy
The American director's third feature film is a love letter to classics like Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, and The Silence of the Lambs, as well as a witty commentary on a Hollywood that recycles its franchises to the point of exhaustion. Kris is a young filmmaker who grew up watching the slasher series Camp Miasma and is now getting the chance to direct its latest installment. For the lead role, she wants Billy Presley, the star of the original who retired from the industry long ago and lives as a recluse at the location where the film was shot. Their meeting turns into a game where reality and fantasy become increasingly difficult to distinguish.
