St. Nicholas Fortress

St. Nicholas Fortress is the second cultural heritage monument in the City of Šibenik to be included under UNESCO protection in 2017.

It is located at the entrance to St. Anthony's Channel and was built in the mid-16th century to defend against Turkish attacks from the sea; interestingly, however, the fortress never fulfilled its intended function, neither in defense nor in attack.
