At the heart of the park lies Dinara, the highest mountain in Croatia. Its peak, Sinjal, reaches 1,831 meters above sea level and attracts hikers seeking an active getaway and expansive views of the Dalmatian landscape. The area is crisscrossed by numerous hiking trails, mountain peaks, shelters, and natural attractions.
Dinara is known for its distinct karst relief, steep cliffs, rocky plateaus, sinkholes, and vast mountain grasslands. At its foothills lie the springs and upper reaches of rivers, including the Cetina, Krka, and Krčić, while the wet karst fields provide vital habitats for numerous plant and animal species.
The preservation of the area has fostered great biological diversity and endemism. The park is home to numerous rare and endangered species, including characteristic representatives of the Dinaric mountain and cave ecosystems. The natural landscape is further enriched by cultural heritage linked to traditional livestock farming, mountain pastures, and a long history of life at the foot of Dinara.
Dinara Nature Park is ideal for hiking, walking, nature observation, and exploring valuable natural and cultural heritage. A visit to this area offers the chance to experience the authentic, rugged, and pristine mountain landscape of Dalmatia.
