Cathedral of St. James Interpretation Center

The story of the unique construction of the Šibenik cathedral, which revolutionized the architecture of its time, the significance of this building for the history of Šibenik, its cultural influence that has spanned centuries across the Šibenik region, and the people responsible for building this magnificent structure.

"Civitas Sacra – The Holy City" is located within the Galbiani Palace in the old town of Šibenik, between Kalelarga and Zagrebačka Street.

The permanent exhibition spans three floors and features, among other things:

• original stone sculptures by Juraj Dalmatinac and Nikola Firentinac
• some of the most valuable Baroque and Renaissance paintings in Croatia
• a polyptych by Nikola Valdanov
• a rich treasury of liturgical vestments and vessels
• other items from the rich cultural heritage of the Diocese of Šibenik.

The exhibition is also filled with a variety of interactive content that tells the story of the Šibenik cathedral in a completely new and engaging way:

• two video games
• carving names into a stone monolith
• scanning faces into stone…

In addition to the permanent exhibition, the Galbiani Palace houses a gallery for temporary exhibitions, a multimedia hall, a gift shop, and a restaurant with a terrace at the very top of the palace.
