Bilice

A village by Lake Prokljan with peaceful coves and natural landscapes

Bilice stretches along the coast of Lake Prokljan, a natural phenomenon where river and sea influences meet. The lake is connected to the sea by a narrow channel, which is why the water in the deeper layers is salty, while the surface water is fresh. This unique feature has shaped the distinct natural environment and rich ecosystem of Bilice.

The surrounding area is adorned with peaceful coves, among which Stubalj and Vrulje stand out. The coastal landscape is perfect for walking, swimming, boating, fishing, and other water activities, or simply for enjoying the silence and the view of the lake. In the northern part of Lake Prokljan lies the small island of Stipanac, while upstream along the Krka River, you can continue toward Krka National Park.

Bilice is also an interesting starting point for exploring the Šibenik region. From here, you can easily reach Šibenik, Skradin, Krka National Park, and other natural and cultural attractions in the vicinity. Visitors can walk the Bilice Trail, discover local stories, and get to know a landscape where the river, lake, and sea merge into a harmonious whole.

The entire coastal belt of Bilice and the area around Lake Prokljan has been protected since 1968, which further confirms the value of this region. Bilice is ideal for those seeking a peaceful vacation in nature, an authentic experience of the Dalmatian hinterland, and a rewarding excursion near Šibenik.
