Over 20 churches are tucked away in the historic center of Šibenik. The oldest surviving one, originally built in the 12th century in the Romanesque style, has transitioned from its sacred function to that of an exhibition space.

St. Krševan Gallery is situated at the top of the wide stairs that lead from the so-called Masna or Zagrebačka Street toward Gorica, at the address Don Krste Stošić Street bb. It continuously hosts solo and group exhibitions by Croatian and international artists. Works of art, whether painting, sculpture, photography, or contemporary art practices, are highlighted in a unique way within this stripped-back, stone setting.

St. Krševan Gallery

In addition to its exhibition activities, St. Krševan Gallery is involved in art education for young people, as well as publishing and collecting contemporary art. The Gallery's headquarters and main exhibition space are located in the former church, while it also utilizes the Studio space on Petra Nakića Street, locally known as the Matija Gallery. Since the Gallery is owned by the City of Šibenik, part of its rich collection is displayed in prominent city buildings.
