The name "Civitas Sacra," meaning "holy city" in Latin, symbolizes the unity of all social classes in the medieval Šibenik commune. Despite various obstacles and the long duration of its construction, they succeeded in creating such a magnificent and long-dreamed-of architectural masterpiece: the Šibenik Cathedral.
The permanent exhibition introduces you to the secrets of the cathedral's construction and medieval Šibenik in an interactive way that is suitable even for the youngest visitors. As you walk between floors, you can simultaneously admire valuable works of sacred art. Since the cathedral is not just a building, but the living heart of the Diocese of Šibenik, the exhibits you will see here come from both the cathedral itself and all the parishes of the Diocese. Most of the exhibits were transferred to the Center from the Church of St. Barbara, which housed the Church Museum until the Center opened.

The core idea of the exhibition, according to the Center, was to place the visitor in the role of a pilgrim right from the entrance, ascending floor by floor, theme by theme, and symbol by symbol—from the material to the symbolic and finally the spiritual—just like on a real pilgrimage.
Become a pilgrim yourself, if only for an hour, in the city with the most beautiful and original cathedral, a city that gave us the first Croatian saint, Friar Nikola Tavelić, and two candidates for sainthood—Servant of God Sister Klara Žižić and Servant of God Father Friar Ante Antić—a city located on the Camino Croatia pilgrimage route. Check their official website for all details regarding opening hours and ticket prices for Civitas Sacra. And of course, don't miss visiting the cathedral!
