New Hollywood Series
Starting this fall at Arsen House of Art, our Retrospective program kicks off with the New Hollywood Film Series. We open with a screening of one of the greatest sci-fi films of all time—and one of the greatest films ever made. We are, of course, talking about the renowned visual virtuoso Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968). Based on the story by Arthur C. Clarke, the film follows a crew of astronauts on a journey to Jupiter after the discovery of a mysterious monolith linked to human evolution. The artificial intelligence HAL 9000 also plays a pivotal role.
