Why visit
a unique natural saltwater lake phenomenon with changing water colors
Located on the Gradina peninsula in Rogoznica, the Dragon's Eye is a geomorphological wonder, a natural saltwater lake surrounded by vertical cliffs.

Scientifically defined as a unique bioreactor, the lake is one of the most fascinating natural phenomena on the Adriatic coast, steeped in ancient stories and legends.

Dragon's Eye

It is connected to the open sea by underground fissures, which causes tidal fluctuations, and the surface water temperature reaches a pleasant 26°C in the summer. Every few years, a rare natural process of water layer turnover occurs, causing the water to change color and become cloudy, which the locals call the "awakening of the dragon." The vertical cliffs framing the lake serve as natural diving boards, attracting adventurers and professional cliff divers alike. Ancient tales are woven around the lake, such as the legend of the dragon Murin, giving the location a mystical and alluring charm. Many believe that swimming in the lake brings health and longevity, and that couples who swim together will remain in love forever.
