Vrana Lake is the largest natural lake in Croatia and one of the largest wetland areas in the Mediterranean. In the past, wetlands were often converted into agricultural land, which is the case with Vrana Lake, as it was once much larger in surface area. The soil of these agricultural areas provided rich harvests, thanks to the Mediterranean climate, abundant sunshine, and a constant water source. Vrana Lake was declared an ornithological reserve in 1983.

Vrana Lake is a permanent home to 256 bird species, 7 of which are endangered in Croatia. If you are interested in the diverse world of birds, you can try your hand at birdwatching. A list of all bird species is available on the Vrana Lake Nature Park website. Aquatic and wetland habitats are extremely important for the preservation of biodiversity. It is home to various plants and animals, with a total of 707 plant species, including both aquatic and terrestrial plants. In addition to birds, the park is home to 8 species of amphibians, 32 species of dragonflies, 133 species of spiders, and many other animals that you will discover only by visiting the park.

The surrounding Nature Park offers various ways to explore this unique ecosystem: 50 kilometers of cycling trails, kayaking, sport fishing, and an adrenaline park for children located in a pine forest near the Crkvine info center. Regardless of the reason for your visit, the park provides enough activities for a full day in nature.
The park's cycling trail is 50 kilometers long and consists of routes of varying difficulty, making it possible to explore the park by bike. Please note that water cannot be purchased along the trail, so you should bring your own before starting. Bicycle rentals are available at the Crkvine and Prosika info centers.

Kayaking will certainly give you a view of the park and its beauty from a completely new angle. Kayaks can be rented for one hour or for the entire day.

Sport fishing is permitted within the park area, provided you have purchased a fishing license in advance. In addition to standard designated fishing spots, you can also rent a kayak for fishing.

The children's adventure park is located in the forest and offers various activities such as climbing artificial walls, nets, and suspension bridges, as well as a zipline. Capacity in the adventure park is limited, so we recommend checking for available slots.
