Šibenik for nature lovers

Surrounded by stunning nature on all sides—national parks, islands, and the hinterland—Šibenik is fortunate that its urban center is also home to its very own green lungs.

Surrounded by stunning nature on all sides—national parks, islands, and the hinterland—Šibenik is fortunate that its urban center is also home to its very own green lungs. The Šubićevac forest, which extends into the neighborhood of the same name, is located near the St. John and Barone fortresses. You can walk through the forest, dominated by Aleppo pine, to reach another of Šibenik's viewpoints—the popular Vidilica. The Šubićevac forest is one of the favorite areas for rest and recreation in Šibenik.

Robert Visiani Park

As for the historic center, although it is entirely made of stone, it hides its own green oases—Robert Visiani Park and Lujo Marun Park, as well as the unique St. Lawrence Monastery Mediterranean Garden.

There are two natural heritage highlights in Šibenik: the living travertine fountain in Lujo Marun Park and the oldest tree—Šimun's mulberry tree next to the Church of St. Nicholas.
