Kažerma, a building with an intriguing history where coral was once processed, now houses the Centre's exhibition area, while Šare House is designed to accommodate researchers, scientists, students, and cultural events.
The Centre's permanent exhibition is spread across four floors, with each one telling the story of red coral (lat. Corallium rubrum), or as the old Zlarin locals call it – kureja, from a different perspective. Since the history of Zlarin's coral harvesting dates back to the 15th century, the exhibition opens with original tools and items from the lives of old coral hunters, the most interesting of which is the inženj – a giant ancient cross with a stone weight and nets used for harvesting coral in the past.

Under the slogan "a red like you've never seen before," the Centre presents the Zlarin tradition of coral processing and exquisite coral jewelry, alongside local stories that confirm how deeply coral branches are connected to Zlarin's identity. After history and ethnology, biology takes center stage as the next floor focuses on coral as a living organism—specifically an animal—and the complex ecosystem in which it lives and grows. The shift from exploitation to conservation is what surprises every visitor to this Centre, and the interactive multimedia approach helps you better experience this red treasure from the depths of the sea.

Round off your stay on Zlarin with a visit to the Centre, experience that famous shade of red, and take home a piece of coral jewelry or another Zlarin souvenir along with fond memories and new knowledge. Passenger ferries from Šibenik to Zlarin sail several times a day. We recommend checking the official Centre website for information on opening hours and ticket prices.
