The main attraction of the site is a rock profile about 30 meters long and 5 meters high, where perfect geological folds—wavy, bent layers of the Earth's crust—are clearly visible. These layers, only a few centimeters thick, bear witness to millions of years of planetary history, formed under the influence of immense lateral pressure.

The profile features well-represented alternating layers of limestone and dolomite from the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. Stara Straža is recognized as a premier natural textbook, combining specific paleontological, mineralogical, petrographic, and sedimentological profiles, making it an ideal place to learn about stratification, folds, and faults. A keen eye can also spot fossilized remains of the extinct coral Cladocoropsis.
