Nestled in a picturesque landscape, it is characterized by sandy beaches, hidden coves, enchanting medieval architecture, and cultural heritage. What keeps guests coming back are the well-maintained cycling paths, healing mud, interesting folklore and customs, and an excellent traditional gastronomic scene. Not far from Pirovac, you will find a nature park and the unique Vransko Lake ornithological reserve.

Pirovac

Until 1930, Pirovac was called Zlosela, which was first mentioned in 1298 in documents regarding the founding of the Šibenik diocese. Due to the growing threat from the Turks after the fall of Bosnia in 1463, Petar Draganić, a commander of the Venetian fleet in Šibenik and owner of the land where Pirovac stands today, took action.

Pirovac

He filled in a small island off the coast—the site of today's old town center—and built a fortress with ramparts, a church, a parish house, and homes for his tenants. The Turks conquered Zlosela twice, but the fortress itself remained unconquered until the Turks left Dalmatia.
