Why visit
-
Bavljenac is located in the Šibenik archipelago, next to the island of Kaprije, whose residents have cultivated its soil for centuries. They built the dry-stone walls by hand, stone by stone, to create vineyards and fig orchards on the sparse karst terrain.

Recently, this unique island has been attracting more and more attention from visitors. It is an uninhabited islet that (especially from the air) resembles a giant fingerprint.

The island is covered in a network of dry-stone walls whose shape and layout resemble papillary lines. This appearance, combined with the oval shape of the island, makes it look like a fingerprint. There is an initiative to include the island on the World Heritage list.
